After releasing their second album Moen in 2009, IMMANU EL got a lot of attention and were called “One of the biggest Swedish pop-hopes right now” (METRO) whose music’s secret is “the closeness of atmospheric pop” (Vodafone Live).
IMMANU EL started as a musical experiment in 2004 by 16-year-old Claes Strängberg, soon joined by his twin brother Per and old childhood friend Emil Karlsson. The ambition has ever since been to create something catching and beautiful – and the ways of achieving this have been evolving differently. During the first year, while studying in high school, they started to create music in an old barn in the countryside outside the town of Jönköping. The first demo Killerwhale EP was sold out and spread all over the world. The band got the chance to play numerous shows around Sweden after being selected as “Rookies of 2005″ by Hultsfredfestivalen. After finishing high school, the band signed their first record-deal, moved to Gothenburg and got two other friends to join the band, David Lillberg and Jonatan Josefsson. The debut album They’ll Come, They Come was released in 2007 and was followed by the first tours in Europe the following year.
Together with their labelmates in EF, the band took over their record-label And The Sound Records, made it completely independent and runned by the artists themselves with licensing- and distribution partners all over the world. IMMANU EL‘s second album Moen was released in late 2009 and the band continued to focus on making live shows all over Europe.
With a lot of new inspiration and experience from earlier adventures, the band started working on their third album In Passage, that was recorded in the summer of 2011 together with Kristian from PG.Lost. In Passage is out now – and since it is one of the most beautiful records of the year, it is the album of this week. It is hard to put the beauty of IMMANU EL‘s music in words. It is like driving along an empty highway through the night towards the sunrise, to finally arrive on a hill and watch the whole world awake. It’s the sound of calm , music that seems to make the time stop. Music that simply seems to make each moment everlasting. It is a self-effacing album, that creates an atmosphere that leaves you lost in thought and makes you want to cry – just because you cannot realize that something wonderful like this exists.

ah yeaaah, finally they’re back. thank for sharing this beautiful music from one of my fave Swedish act. I got their second album, Moen last year, and instantly hooked by the way they play. after few listening to the songs you guys uploaded here, im sure they will get more acknowledgement in the world of post rock-indie rock..they deserve that!
